Change the Desktop Background Pattern in Workbench on your Amiga Computer Using WBPattern (5-10 mins)

Task: Change the Desktop Background Pattern in Workbench 3.1 on your Amiga Computer

Needed: An Amiga computer or emulator with Workbench 2.0 or later

Time: 5-10 minutes

Introduction

Workbench 2.0 and later versions have a nice simple grey and white color scheme with a clean simple look. The desktop in these versions is a solid grey. An application called WBPattern in the Preferences folder allows you to change to background to some simple patterns with a few extra colors including blue and black.

Instructions

Open up the WBPattern application in the Preferences folder of Workbench. A quick way to give this a try is to select one of the presets and click USE. This will set the Workbench desktop to that pattern. You can also click on the Placement button to change the pattern to be applied to Windows instead. Examples of both are shown below.

You can also select a picture to apply which I did not try.

Comments

I really like the look of the blue dot pattern in the windows with the grey desktop. I may save that one!
