Introduction
I recently posted about setting up a compact flash (CF) card to work as a solid state hard drive on your Amiga 600 or 1200 computer using WinUAE and an IDE adapter. I also recently posted about installing Workbench on the CF card for booting the OS from the new hard drive. This was followed by a post on installing WHDLoad for booting games from the hard drive. This project is to install iGame as a convenient way to launch WHDLoad games from a menu.
Instructions
This project assumes you have a working CF card or WinUAE hard disk setup with Workbench 3.1 and WHDLoad with some games. If not, complete the projects to set up a CF card, install Workbench, and install WHDLoad. Note that you could set up a hard drive file (.HDF) for use on WinUAE if you don’t have or don’t want to use original hardware.
The first step is to download all the necessary files, unzip them, and place them in your shared PC folder that you can access from WinUAE. I called my folder iGame Files (see screenshot below). You will need:
- Magic User Interface – MUI v5
- Custom List Classes for MUI – NList v0.128
- Text Editor Custom Class for MUI – TextEditor v15.56
- iGame v2.6

Note that this is the minimal install to get this working with no frills which is what I did. The iGame GitHub lists a bunch of optional installs that spice up the app with features like an icon library for the games. Feel free to install these additional libraries.
The second step is to install the required Magic User Interface or MUI that iGame uses. Simply run the MUI installer file and choose your Workbench partition as the install destination.
The third step is to install the NList files. The installer will prompt you for your AmigaOS version and will automatically choose an install location.
The fourth step is to install the TextEditor files. The installer will prompt you for your AmigaOS version and will automatically choose an install location.
The fifth step is to install iGame using the installer file. I chose to have the files installed on my Utilities partition. You can place this wherever you want.
The sixth step is to launch iGame. At first boot the application will not know where your WHDLoad games are. If you right click you get a menu at the top. Choose Preferences and then Repositories. Click the folder icon and then press the VOLUMES button choose your games location. For me it was my Games hard drive partition. You will then right click again and go back to the menu and select Actions and then Scan Repositories. iGame will then scan the repository you selected and look for .slave files. These will then appear in your iGame list. That is it!

The final step is to double click on a game in the iGame menu and verify it launches correctly.
Comments
This is a nice little tool and an easy install. There are some settings that allow you to categorize the game by genre. You can also configure MUI settings from the right click menu.
You can run this on an Amiga 500 using a PiStorm.
