Introduction

I recently posted about my Amiga a1200 NG build that featured a newly made case from a1200.net. This case came with several trapdoors that close a whole in the back of the case that can be used for cables such as HDMI video. Unfortunately, my case kit did not come with a trapdoor that was designed specifically for the HDMI connector included with my a1200 NG. So, I 3D printed a new one.

Instructions

I have previously posted about purchasing a 3D printer to assist with situations like this. I highly recommend the Bambu Lab P1S / P2S or the H2S which has a larger print volume.

The good news is that the retro computing community has shared lots of STL files for 3D printing various case parts for a wide range of different computers including the Amiga. Here are some I check regularly for parts I need:

Thingiverse: One of the oldest and largest collections of free STL files. Use the filters to narrow results by printer type or license.

Printables: A fast-growing community known for quality models and a clean interface. You’ll find both free and paid files here, with plenty of creative designs perfect for your next retro-computing project.

Cults3D: A designer-friendly marketplace that blends free and paid models. It’s a great spot if you also want to sell your own 3D creations.

MyMiniFactory: Known for its high-quality, print-ready files. Every model is test-printed before publication, so you can expect fewer surprises and smoother prints. Ideal for miniatures, props, and collectible items.

Yeggi: Think of this as the Google of 3D printing. Yeggi indexes multiple STL repositories and is a good place to start.

MakerWorld: A newer but growing hub with a good mix of free and creative designs. It’s a solid choice when you’re looking for something unique or under-the-radar.

A search of Yeggi for Amiga 1200 back trapdoor yielded several results.
