Play Arkanoid on an Amiga 16- or 32-Bit Computer (10-15 mins)

Task: Play Arkanoid on an Amiga 16- or 32-Bit Computer

Needed: Arkanoid software, Amiga computer or emulator

Time: 10-15 minutes

Introduction

I grew up playing breakout on the Atari 2600 and the Atari 8-bit home computers. Breakout is a classic example of a game that is super easy to play but a little hard to master. This and the bright colors make it fun to play. Arkanoid (Taito 1986) was a successor to Breakout that included improved graphics, sound, and gameplay with powerups and other interesting additions. I recall playing Arkanoid in the arcade and on a classic Macintosh. I have had great fun rediscovering this game on my Amiga 500. The Amiga port has great graphics and sound.

Arkanoid was included as a WHDLoad game on my PiStorm Caffeine OS distribution. The Lemon Amiga site has some download links for the ADF disk image that can you load and play from a Gotek drive.

Comments

This game is well worth a try if you have never played it. This is definitely one I can play for hours. I may do future posts as I try it for other systems.

I love the powerup that give you guns.
