Task: Purchase a Wireless Controller for Use with Retro Computer Emulators
Needed: Wireless controller
Time: 10-15 minutes
Introduction
I am not a big user of emulators. I much prefer to use original hardware. However, there are times when I want to try a game or some software quickly without setting up my retro computer with all of its cables and video display. I have discovered that it would be beneficial to have a wireless controller for playing some emulator games on my Windows PC. After some looking around, I decided to go with an 8BitDo controller that is designed for use with Windows and Android devices.
Instructions
Purchase an 8BitDo wireless controller. I purchased mine on Amazon for $30. They are also available on eBay. At the time of this post, 8BitDo was selling this model direct for $26. I got the 8Bitdo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller for Windows PC and Android, with 1000Hz polling rate, hall effect joysticks and hall triggers, and remappable L4/R4 bumpers.

Comments
I have been very happy with this controller. It works great when I tested it playing Turrican II using the WinUAE Amiga emulator for Windows. It feels sturdy with solid engineering. I like the color options. I nice alternative to the usual Xbox controllers for Windows.
