Purchase an Amiga 600 16-Bit Computer (30-60 mins)

Task: Purchase a 16-Bit Amiga 600 Computer

Needed: Web Browser

Time: 30-60 minutes

Introduction

I have previously posted about purchasing Amiga 500 and 1200 computers. These are accessible and essential Amiga computers for any retro computer collection. The Amiga 500 came out in 1987 and featured a 16-bit 68000 CPU with 512KB of chip RAM with the Original Chip Set (OCS) graphics. The Amiga 1200 came out in 1992 and was a significant upgrade fearing a faster 32-bit 68020 CPU, 1MB chip RAM, and the Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA).

The Amiga 600 was also released in 1992 as a less expensive alternative to the 1200. It featured the 68000 CPU, 1MB chip RAM, and the Enhanced Chip Set (ECS) graphics. Other features included an internal IDE hard drive and a PCMCIA slot. What I love about the 600 is its small size. It is much smaller than either the 500 or 1200.

Instructions

I purchased my recapped and refurbished Amiga 600 from RetroPassion in the UK for about $600. These show up on eBay from time to time for around $600 to $800. Unfortunately, they are not cheap, and bargains are very hard to find as these are in pretty high demand. Ami64 is another source.
