Introduction
Commodore 64 breadbin cases are notoriously brittle and prone to cracking and yellowing. Fortunately, there is a modern replacement produced by Retro Fuzion. Their cases come in a variety of colors including clear, red, blue, green, and the original tan color of the c64. I ordered one and have been very happy with the result. I include below a number of photos to help you top decide whether you want one of these. I found the assembly to be very easy.

Instructions
First, order a new case from Retro Fuzion. These run about $100 (there is a new customer 10% discount at the moment). Shipping to the U.S. from Australia was $21 for me.

Second, unpack the box. Attach the metal shield that cover the power switch and joystick port area. Use the small black screws to attach the metal plate to the board and the board to the case.

Third, attach the keyboard to the top of the case using the long black metal screws. Also fit the new LED by placing the round rubber holder in the case first and then pressing the LED unit through until it clicks in place. Note that you should first put the Power label in place first.
Fourth, attached the keyboard connector to the motherboard, pug in the LED cable, and fit the top of the case over the bottom. You can now use the last three long black metal screws to attach the bottom and top of the case.

Fifth, attach the case label if so desired and the rubber feet to the bottom.
That is it!
Comments
I have been very happy with the purchase. This is a great option for failing cases. I have several that are cracked or broken.
