Task: Sing Along to Christmas Classics on Your Amiga 500 16-Bit Computer
Needed: Web Browser, Christmas Classics ADF Disk Image, Gotek or Similar Device
Time: 15-30 minutes
Introduction
One of my favorite things to do around the holidays is to explore demos and software with Christmas themes for retro computers. The Amiga does not disappoint. I highly recommend the Christmas Classics program from Free Spirit that was released in 1989. This software includes images, scrolling lyrics, and tunes for a number of classic Christmas songs. Very festive!
Instructions
You can download the Christmas Classic ADF disk image from the Internet Archive. I loaded this up on my Gotek and booted it on my Amiga 500.
Alternatively, you can watch a YouTub video of the software running.
Comments
A nice feature of this program is that it automatically cycles through all the songs so you can have it playing in the background without being prompted.
Note that the program seemed to lock up on my Amiga 500 after about 15 minutes.
Here is a piece in PC Magazine by Benj Edwards from 2016 that mentions this and some Christmas demos for other platforms.
