Welcome to Retro Projects! This web page is devoted to posting fun projects for home computers and video game consoles from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. The goal is for each post to be a self-contained project that can be completed in a short amount of time. Projects will include programming, software, hardware, media, etc. Some will be authentic to back in the day and some will involve new software and hardware that has been developed within the last 10 years. Each post will include step-by-step instructions, a list of what is needed to complete the project, and the approximate amount of time you will need. An emphasis will be placed on projects that can be completed in the less than an hour. That is usually as much time as I can find on a weekend.
Posts will focus on 8-bit and 16-bit systems including, but not limited to, the Amiga 500, Apple II, Apple Macintosh SE, Atari 2600, Atari 800XL, Atari 1040ST, Commodore VIC-20, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, IBM PC, Mattel Aquarius, Nintendo Entertainment System, Radio Shack TRS-80, Sinclair ZX Spectrum, Tandy Color Computer 3, Texas Instruments 99/4A, and Timex Sinclair 1000. I hope you will find this resource useful for making the most out of your retro hobby time. The format is modeled after my successful Atari Projects website that now includes over 275 projects for Atari 8-bit computers and game consoles.
